The Sea Beast. The Capture of the Great White Whale (From “Moby Dick”) [Little Blue Book No. 1157]
Girard, Kansas: Haldeman-Julius, . 32mo, saddle-stapled in wraps. Gibbs 1157, in the fourth recorded wrapper variation.
This excerpt from Moby Dick was likely printed to take advantage of the wellspring of interest in Moby Dick following the release of the popular John Barrymore film released the previous year, or, to show how much the photoplay strayed from the particulars and ambiguities of Melville's tale - or both. A somewhat scarcer title in the series, especially in the earliest state as with this copy.
Very good with fading and a touch of foxing to the wraps. Item #30472
