Named after a passage from Walter Benjamin’s Theses on the Philosophy of History, it presents 85 books, manuscripts and ephemera, including material on Benjamin, computing and reproductive technologies, social movements, May 1968, feminism, tattooing, incarceration, punk zines, music, literature, art and film, and more than 20 complete runs of periodicals, including 12 punk zines, many of which we’ve not previously seen assembled into complete runs.
We’re glad to announce the release of our Catalog 26: Illegal America, which offers 44 newly catalogued items relating to conceptual art from the 1960’s-1990’s. Named after Exit Art’s 1982 exhibition of the same name, it focuses especially on art involving intervention, appropriation, illegality and protest, and art by collectives and by women.
This is a split, “versus” catalog we’re released with our friend Fredrik. Fredrik’s side features 44 items relating to art, design, and concrete poetry, and is the first catalog from his bookselling concern The Idea of the Book. The print version, which will be mailed in a couple of weeks, features both catalogs bound dos-a-dos.
