The Earth Belongs to the People. Ecology and Power

San Francisco: People's Press, 1970. First edition. 4to, [1] 45, [2] pp, bound in card wraps. Illustrated throughout by the underground cartoonist Nick Thorkelson. This edition has, with no mention of additional printings; the publisher's advertisement leaf at rear lists both Vietnam: A Thousand Years of Struggle and All Power to the People: The Story of the Black Panther Party. The book appeared in several different editions and printings, including different covers.

An early environmental action handbook, incorporating research and writing by Slater along with Doug Kitt, Dave Widelock, and Paul Kangas. The illustrations by Thorkelson are a fascinating link between the early days of the environmental movement and underground comics. Includes some early writings on greenwashing, smog, air pollution, and herbicide and pesticide use, and concludes with an ecological analysis of the Vietrnam War.

A very good example with some creasing and fading to the wraps and the previous owner's initials to first page. Item #31490
