One of the Ohio photographer's haunting photomontages, which she used to document superfund sites, internment camps, prison camps post-industrial landscapes and other scenes of social and environmental violence. Hayashi was born in the Gila River War Internment Camp in Arizona, and grew up in the Watts neighborhood in Los Angeles. She later became a professor of Photography at Cleveland State University. She was murdered in 2006 in Ohio.
