Acéphale No. 2.Nietzsche et les Fascistes
Paris: Acéphale, 1936. 8vo, 32 [1] pp, saddle-stapled in wraps.
The second issue of the periodical, which ran to 5 numbers. Acéphale was the public review of the secret society of the same name, Each issue of Acéphale was illustrated on the cover with André Masson's drawing of a headless figure, inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci's drawing Vitruvian Man. The removal of the head was in part a reference to the decapitation of Louis XVI, an event which the Acéphale group celebrated in a ritual manner.
This issue was devoted to the defense of Nietschze's legacy against fascism, including Bataille's attack on Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche, and contributions by Jean Wahl, Pierre Klossowsky, Jean Rollin, and Andre Masson.
Some toning to wraps, especially along the spine, with a couple of innocuous smudges to back cover. Very good. Item #30991
