Generacion Libro I / Book I
Devon: Beau Geste Press, 1973. First edition. 12mo, unpaginated, bound in yellow card covers, and housed in a photographically illustrated dust jacket which is blindstamped at the rear fold, and rubberstamped with the phrase "Fun Far Sites As Soon as Practicable." One of a limited edition of 200 copies.
One of the rarest, and most beautiful productions of the press, a photographic documention of the lives of the Ehrenberg family, including photos of their associates - not just artists, but also plumbers, gun runners, doctors et al. The book was designed, according to the copyright page, "by the passage of time."
"It took Martha and Felipe nearly fourteen years to compile this photographic document, which portrays the growth of a generation - that of a family and its friends. The family is Martha's and Felipe's, the friends include doctors and dancers, plumbers and painters, gun runners and sculptors, artists and architects. It is also an homage to the many anonymous photographers through Mexico whose lenses blur and sharpen frozen moments of privacy." Motard et al, Beau Geste Press No. 54.
Some minor adhesion where the board meets the title page, and overopened previous to last page, else very good, in a very good jacket that is rubbed, with light trace soiling and creasing and chipping to extremities.
Very scarce in the trade. Item #30582
