Mr. Romance Only 50¢

New York: Mr. Romance, c. 1960's. 8vo, single sheet folded once to make a 4 pp. booklet.

A leaflet advertising a computer dating service based out of New York City, at 1245 Amsterdam Ave, aimed speficially at college students. The booklet states that "MR. ROMANCE began at Columbia University. It was organized by a graduate student of psychology..." The text mentions that the company arose out of dissatisfaction with other computer dating services, so this endeavor was likely started after Operation Match at Harvard.

A holograph note on the cover in blue ink from a prior own states "John Brockman had something to do w/ this. Was 1st Computer Dating in NYC I think."

Though we've dealt with a fair amount of early computer dating ephemera, this is the first booklet we've seen from the company, and we can find no record of it. Rare ephemera from the early days of computer dating.

Aforementioned annotation, and some creasing and closed tears to margins; ghost of an address sticker to back panel. Otherwise very good. Item #30566

Price: $150.00
