The Need for Art in Life [Pocket Series No. 413]

Girard, Kansas: Haldeman-Julius, [1923]. 32mo, stapled wraps. Gibbs 413, earliest noted state of the text, in the earliest noted wrapper.

An impassioned essay on art by the archeologist, originally given as a lecture at the University of Manchester. Holborn was one o fthe more intriguing writers of the early 20th century, who became laird of the Scottish island of Foula, and was a surviver of the Lusitania, responsible for saving the life of Avis Dolphin. He later wrote the child's book The Child of the Moat for her.

Wraps faded, toned at extremities, and a little rubbed, with a crease to back cover, but still a sturdy very good example. Item #30477
