New York: Institute for Human Development, c. 1970. Sixteen placards, each 8 x 8", housed in the publisher's original folder. The placards are illustrated in color by Judith Savard, some of them incorporating photographs and quotes.

A beautiful portfolio which grew out of the antipoverty "Summer in the City" program in New York City, which had been conceived by Robert J. Fox, an associate pastor of St. Paul's Church in Harlem. The progam took place largely in the South Bronx, East Harlem, and the Lower East Side, and at one point occupied 28 storefronts and employed 580 employees.

Though marked as a third edition, this actually indicated that this was the third (and last) portfolio in the series.

The placards are vibrant and gorgeous. Several of them bear texts by John Cage. A beautiful intersection of pop art and pedagogy.

All issues are rare. OCLC locates only as single holding, in the archive at UVA.

Placards fine. The folder shows some creasing, closed tears, and some light tidemarking from raindrops, but is still sound, vibrant and very good. Item #30184
