Provenance: from the library of the NASA scientist Ralph Donaldson, with his ownership signature to first blank, and with a lengthy gift inscription to him by Laura MrCormick, whose previous small bookplate is also pasted down onto the first blank.
First edition of Regardie's second book, following Garden of Pomegranates. The book was "dedicated with poignant memory of what might have been to MARSYAS," i. e. Aleister Crowley. Regardie had formerly been Crowley's secretary, though the two had fallen out in the year this book was published.
Cloth rubbed through at extremities, and lightly faded at spine. Some light pencill annotations here and there., and some offsetting of ink from Regardie's signature onto facing frontis. Smal ltape repair to lower margin of p. 53, binding lightly cracked in one plate but still holding strong, with uncracked hinges, else very good. Item #29514
