Spiritual Leadership Vols. 1-2 [Complete]

np: Privately Printed, 1921-22. First edition. Small 8vos, each 25 pp, each saddle-stapled into pale green wrappers, the first volume with the title and decorations in silver to the front panel, and the second volume with titles and border in black ink. The first volume is attributed to Alice A. Evans-Bailey and dated 1921 following the text. The second volume is signed Alice A. Bailey and dated 1922.

Both volumes of Bailey's exceedingly rare critiques of the Theosophical Society, privately printed during Bailey's contentious departure from the Society along with her new husband, Foster Bailey. In 1922, the same year the second volume of this work was published, they would both found the Lucifer Publishing Company, which later became the Lucis Trust under which name it continues today.

Rare. OCLC locates only two holdings.

From the library of the scientist Ralph Donaldson, with his ownership signature inside the front cover of vol. 1. An ink note to the title page of the first volume in an unknown hand states "(By J.B.)," perhaps a reference to Jacob Bonggren?

Both volumes are toned and creased, with some minor small staining, but easily very good. Item #29472
