A complete run of the 1990's downtown periodical edited by Chi Chi Valenti, and which was associted with the queer dance and theater scenes at Jackie 60 and other venues downtown. Over 4 issues, two years, and over 500 pages, Verbal Abuse documented in messy transgressive multi-media splendor pre-milennial downtown. Beginning with the second issue, each issue was devoted to a special theme: nop. 2 is the "No/The Future (Punk Issue)", no. 3 is devoted to New Religions, and the final number devoted to food and sex.
The debut issue was strikingly designed with printed glassive overlay wraps, and included work by Haoui Montag, Glenn O'Brien, Richard Hell, Vaal, Sister Dimension, Terence Sellers, Gerard Blacklips, Bobby Miller, Bob Limp, David Aaron Clark, Lady Kier Kirby, Max Blagg, Maggie Estep, Vincent Gagliostro, Emily XYZ, Matt Benedict, snd Michael O'Brien.
The second issue includes work by Patti Smith, Matthew Barney, Emily XYZ, Maggie Estep, Eve Libertine of Crass, Diego Cortez, Malcolm McLaren, Diamanda Galas, Alan Vega of Suicide, Gee Vaucher, Genesis P-Orridge et al.
The third issue includes contributions by Vince Aletti, Max Black, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, Matthew Barney, Charles Henri Ford, Genesis P-Orridge, Robert Hunter, Linda Jablonsky et al.
