New York: C Press, 1964. First edition. 4vo, mimeographed from typescript, stapled wraps. Cover by Joe Brainard. One of a limited edition of 300 numbered copies, this copy unnumbered and out of series.
The first edition of this legendary book of the second generation of the New York School, a huge influence on so much vital work since.
This copy was directly handed by Ted Berrigan to the prior owner in NYC in 1965, from whom we acquired it. Like many copies, it is missing the terminal blank leaf and the unprinted sheet of card stock at rear. However, this copy has an original price of $1.00 handwritten in blue ballpoint ink, as the recipient received it - which lends some credence to the supposition that many copies - especially the unnumbered and out of series copies - were issued as such.
Light creasing and toning to margins, rusting to staples, and a short nick to final leaf, and a small droplet stain to cover at lower margin, else about near fine and better than usually found. Item #29207
