New York: Lorenz and Ellen Gude, 1966. First edition. Foolscap format, 31 pp., mimeographed from typescript and stap-stapled into an offset printed card cover illustrated by Joe Brainard.
The 13th and final regular issue of the seminal little mag of the second generation of the New York School. This issue includes work by Joe Brainard, Ted Berrigan, William Saroyan, Dick Gallup, Pierre Reverdy, Philippe Soupault, Teresa Mitchell, Harry Matthews, Max Jacob, Kenward Elmslie, Apollinaire, Padgett et al.
The brilliant cover by Joe Brainard features a silhouette of a stencil cutter, an elegiac final note referencing the means of construction of one of the great little mags of the Mimeograph Revolution.
A sound, very good or better example, showing some minor soiling and creasing to the cover sheet, and
a small 1" abrasion to upper tip.
Sound copies of any issue of C are relatively scarce; the fragility of construction, the bulk of the issues, and the unwieldy foolscap format all contribute to their demise.
