Amsterdam: Art & Project, 1971. 4to, single sheet folded once to make four pages. Photographically illustrated. Addressed and mailed to fellow artist Athena Tacha.

Single issue of the remarkable periodical issued from the influential gallery run by Adriaan van Ravesteijn and Geert van Beijeren. Over the course of almost 20 years the gallery issued 156 of these bulletins, in almost all cases a single sheet folded into four panels, given over to the work of a single artist project, each a standalone work. One of the landmark periodicals of conceptual art.

This issue is an unusual one, in which Buren uses the space of the periodical to document both his work which was installed in the Guggenheim as part of the VI Guggenheim International Exhibition, and his anger at the museum deciding to censor and remove the work at the request of other artists in the show.

Folded into thirds for mailing, with typewritten address and "air mail" stamp, and original enclosure remnant. An unknown person has written a pencil note to cover requesting that Athena give them the postage stamp on the issue, but the stamp is still firmly affixed. Very good. Item #29013

Price: $150.00
