New York: Lorenz & Ellen Gude, 1964. First edition. Foolscap, mimeographed, side stapled coversx. Cover and illustrations by Joe Brainard.
Single issue of the little magazine, which was of of primary importance to the formation of the second New York School. This issue is notable for including a cover and five prefatory pages of art, mostly serial images, by Joe Brainard - some of his most beautiful magazine work. The most beautiful issue of C, and indeed of any little mag of the era.
Contributors include Tom Veitch, Joseph Ceravolo, Ron Padget (including his Sonnet to Andy Warhol), John Wieners, Tony Towle, Lorenzo Thomas, Frank Lima, Frank O'Hara, James Schuyler, and Harry Fainlight.
Some minor foxing, more pronounced on back cover which is a little smudged, but a solid, very good or better example - the best we've handled. Item #28996
