Cleveland: d.a. levy, 1967. Tabloid format, single sheet of newsprint folded once to make a four pager.
The very scarce first issue of levy's glorious tabloid zine. This issue is an interesting snapshot into the financial difficulties of artistic life in Cleveland, including a list of coffeeshops in the city with an exhortation to support them, including Diogenes Lantern, The Olive Tree, The Coffeehouse, and Adele's Bar and Lounge. The issue also includes an appeal for financial support for those fighting censorship, including the levy - Lowell defense fund, and the defense funds of levy's fellow publishers Lenore Kandel, Ray Bremser, Gene Bloom, Steve Richmond, and Ed Sanders. A poem by Dave Cunliffe in England highlights the international nature of the endeavor.
Paper lightly toned, with some small chips to margins and a horizontal fold. Very good. Item #28815
