Holocene Gazette & Country Traveller #1

Hanover, New Hampshire: Center for Paleocybernetic Research, 1970. First edition. 17 x 22" sheet offset printed in b/w and folded three times, probably for mailing.

The first, and to our knowledge, the only issue published of the beautifully produced newsletter made as the trumpet for this radical environmental group. Their manifesto states that 'We must dismantle & dissolved, by any means necessary, the whole of centralized government & corporate industry." This first issue is dedicated to the memory of Charles Olson, who had just passed. The verso prints poems by Grant Fisher and Diane Di Prima.

The Center for Paleocybernetic research is the same imprint used to issue the Guerilla: Free Newspaper From the Streets poster periodical, and this remarkable publication bears all the hallmarks of the work of the publisher and activist Allen Van Newkirk, who was at one time or another associated with the White Panthers, Black Mask and other groups, and later who was an early creator of the idea of Bioregionalism and founder of the Geographic Foundation of the North Atlantic.

Folded twice as issued, with light creasing to tips, else fine. Item #28748
