Los Gatos, CA: Pacific Domes, 1970. First edition. Folio, 56 pp, saddle-stapled wraps. Profusely illustrated with photographs and diagrams.
The first edition of this landmark work of the counterculture, assembled in the space of only 14 days at the Whole Earth headquarters by Lloyd Kahn and others, with help from a host of the shelter counterculture including Ant Farm. Kahn at the time was the shelter editor for the Whole Earth Catalogs, and this book is in the same large, glorious format. The Domebook was born out of a remarkable project sat an experimental high school in California, where the students and teachers built 10 Geodesic dome structures, with 3 of the domes completely constructed by the teenagers.
The book quickly had a second printing, and was followed the next year by Domebook Two. However, after living in his own dome for a year Kahn became disillusioned with Geodesics, and discontinued the distribution of Domebook Two, moving on to other projects.
A bit thumbed and toned, with some light creasing and soiling, but a solid very good copy. Scarce in the first printing. Item #28683
