Dual Determinant. Paolo Soleri is the Only Architect [Box]

Washington DC: Corcoran Gallery, 1970. First edition. Paperback. Cardboard box, 10 1/4" square, printed with text on all sides and flaps, housing 16 scroll posters of various sizes each housed in its own compartment, with the quarto book bound in card wraps laid in (unpaginated, but 82 pp).

The legendary catalog Issued in conjunction with the1970 exhibition at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington DC. Each of the scrolls is a blueprint featuring designs for utopian cityscapes meant to minimize detrimental effects of human activity of the biosphere. Soleri's theories of architecture, greatly influenced by the Jesuit paleontologist Teilhard Du Chardin, have become influential to a new generation of ecologically minded architects. Just because these cities have not been built doesn't mean that they won't be.

Box with some moderate fraying and bumping to extremities. The catalog is soundly bumped at extremities, with reading creases to the spine. The scrolls are unusually near fine to fine, showing only some light occasional foxing. The acidic nature of the corrugated cardboard often causes discoloration to the scrolls, but there is no evidence of that here.

Very scarce, but especially so with the scrolls complete and in this condition. Item #28681
