North-Information Nos. 1-2, 5-40, 42-45. [with] North 1-4
Copenhagen: North, 1976-78. North: each issue a 4to, bound in french metallic wraps. North-Information: 4to, first two issues each a single, folded sheet. Subsequent issues saddle-stapled. Text in Danish with English translation.
A very substantial assortment, the largest we've handled or been able to assemble, of this important Scandinavian periodical of the avant-garde. The aim of the magazine North, and of its accompanying and more ephemeral periodical North-Information, was to document avant-garde activity in Scandinavia, especially ephemeral activities, with bilingual text. All issues are heavily illustrated with extensive photographs. Henrik Have was one of the original editors, though he left early on in order to concentrate on his publishing project Edition After Hand. Essential for any library dealing with the late 20th century avant-garde in Scandinavia.
Issue 43 of North-Information consists of a single sheet, folded to enclose an untitled artists' book bt Tom Helling & Lomholt Formular Press documenting the Mr. Klein project, a conceptual project on themes of defenestration. Contributions to the project are solicited by the folder, with a note stating that "The Information-magazine will thus serve as cover the pater publications on the project", a conceptually striking format for a magazine issue.
Issues of North are very good to near fine with bumping and some light rubbing to extremities. The issues of North-Information are fine. Item #28452
