[New York]: [Publishing Institute of American Art], . 8vo, comb-bound at upper and lower margin, with the bound pages die-cut in half, two of which are printed glassine, with 27 loose black and white plates laid in beneath the bound pages, bound and laid into a card folder with the original Roy Lichtenstein explosion sticker still intact and affixed to one side of the folder.
The ingeniously designed catalog for this early Pop Art publication, curated by Dorothy Herzka - later named Dorothy Lichtenstein. The catalog is devoted to six male artists, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, James Rosenquist, Tom Wesselmann, and Andy Warhol, featuring a portrait of each and reproductions of their work. The photography for the catalog was done by a young Rudy Burckhardt, as well as Michael Katz, Eric Pollitzer, Walter Rosenblum, John D. SChiff, Hans Namuth, and Steve Young.
Contents fine. The card folder is mildly soiled, and the sticker is creased, else a very good or better copy. Scarce complete and with the sticker still extant. Item #28143
