Progress Is Not Future: It Is Keeping Up w/ the Present. Poem #2

New York: Radio Ethiopia, nd [c. 1978]. 4to, two leaves, original xerox from photograph and holograph on rectos only. Stapled once at the upper left hand corner.

The poem Poem #2 was written in 1977 by Smith and Hell, and, according to a statement on Richard Hell's website, "printed on a flyer given away at a concert by the Smith Group and the Voidoids in 1978 (and its last word really is 'I'm'".

We suspect this to be the same item, which would make it one of the scarcer "A" items in the bibliography of either artist. Reproduced around the poem is Patti Smith's holograph message announcing the May 1978 shows with the Voidoids at the Palladium. The only example we've handled or seen.

A worn, good only copy that is folded twice, with toning to margins. Item #28132

Price: $250.00
