New York: Hanuman Books, 1987. First edition. Paperback. 32mo, 94 pp, bound in unprinted card wraps, with photographically illustrated dust jacket titled in gilt.
The rarest book in the Hanuman series, printed in a run of 500 copies, and, according to Mathew Erickson's article on the press in Parkett, smuggled into the US in a different dust jacket. Flanagan died in 1996 of cystic fibrosis; he attributed his longevity in living with the disease to his ability to control the disease using ritualized sadomasochism. Long a respected figure in underground literature and performance art circles, he achieved mainstream notoriety by being featured in the Nine Inch Nails video for Happiness in Slavery, which was widely banned.
Fine, in a very good jacket that is rather toned, with some creasing to extremities. Item #27993
