The first American edition of the final long poem by Erasmus Darwin, and the work that mostly fully conveys his theories of evolution and the interconnectedness of living things. Erasmus was Charles Darwin's grandfather.

Rebacked at a later date in calf with five compartments ruled in gilt at the spine, with a gilt-stamped crushed red morocco title label. Rubbed at extremities, with tidemarking to initial leaves, and toning and foxing. Hinges strengthened with cloth tape. Item #27798
