Tzarad 1-4 [Complete]. Lee Harwood, ed.

Tzarad 1-4 [Complete]

London: Night Scene Publications, 1965-69. First edition. 4to, each issue mimeographed from typescript and side-stapled in illustrated card covers. Nos. 3 and 4 published as joint issues with Collection. No. 1 limited to 200 copies; No. 3 is limted to 350 copies.

A complete run of one of the best little mags of the 1960's. Tzarad shows Harwood's increased interest in the poets of the New York School, especially with no. 2, which is a special issue devoted to the city - but like all of Harwood's excellent magazines, there is a remarkable variety of contributors, including work by musicians, including Ken Weaver of the Fugs, and literature in translation.

The first issue prints John Ashbery's poem The Ecclesiast before it appeared in Rivers & Mountains later that year. The cover of the second issue features a photograph of Bob Dylan and Gerard Malanga by Andy Warhol.

Wraps moderately toned and foxed, with rust to the staple of each issue, and some moderate soiling, but a sturdy very good set. Item #27782
