TLS from Jonathan Williams to Burt Britton

Highlands, NC: October 19, 1975. TLS on "American Society of the Loon, Poultry Division" stationary, approximately 200 words, signed in JW's distinctive hand "Jargon's Own." Housed in an envelope bearing the same legend as return address, above which JW has added "Col. Harland Williams" and his address beneath. Addressed to "Burt Britton, Esq." at the Strand Bookstore.

A wonderful letter from the editor of Jargon to the well-known and eccentric bookseller Britton. JW makes references to the illegibilty of Britton's last letter, baseball, including Peter Rose - he was probably watching the legendary World Series matchup between the Reds and the Red Sox, football, wonders on the page when some books he has ordered from Britton are going to arrive, and orders a book on Charles Ives and "the recent cloth edition of Princeton's Cavafy."

Folded twice, and fine. The envelope opened a bit roughly, but very good. Item #27766

Price: $125.00
