Cleveland: The Asphodel Bookshop, nd. 16mo, offset printed on decked paper died blue at the margins, and housed in a printed envelope with the fore edge of the rear flap stained blue, as issued.
Catalog No. 13 from one of the most important poetry bookshops in the US, and one of the primary distributors of the little magazines of the Mimeograph Revolution, especially for the Cleveland Scene. Lowell's bookshop was the subject of persecution by the police in conjunction with the distribution of works by d. a. levy. Many issues of Lowell's catalogs included first printings of poems by various poets, and this is issue is a spectacular one, printing the very first appearance of the Charles Olson poem "The Winter the GEN. STARKS was stuck". Lowell salutes Olson in the foreward by stating "A raise of a double Cutty Sark to Charles Olson for the privilege of offering the first printing of his poem."
