Letters for Origin

London & New York: Cape Goliard and Grossman, 1969. First edition. Association copy, inscribed by Charles Olson on his deathbed in a shaky hand to Albert Glover, the editor of the book; "The Red Yellow Shiny Dog Special. CO / Al Glo (w) Jan 1970."

Olson passed on January 10, 1970, this copy then inscribed in the last 10 days of his life. This was the last book to be published in Olson's lifetime, released the previous month, and given Olson's ill health at the time it seems unlikely that many other copies were signed, if any.

A superb association - Glover's work, as editor of this book and also for the important Curriculum of the Soul series, did much to spread Olson's influence among his readership and fellow poets.

Wraps lightly grubby and handled, and lightly rubbed at extremities, with some faint tidemarking along spine, which has a reading crease. Very good. Item #27671
