Gonova: Commercio-Gazzetta Di Genova, 1888. 8vo, 99 pp, rebound in red linen with the cover of the photographically illustrated original wrapper preserved. Illustrated with drawings in the text. Text in Italian.
First and only edition of one of the rarest of all tattoo books. Orazio based his study on a survey of 300 Genoese prostitutes, recording not only the tattoos of the subjects, but also their physical and psychological aspects.
OCLC locates only a single holding worldwide, and this is the first copy we've encountered in 15 years of searching for it.
A 1" long hole to original wrapper, affecting the image - though not the tattoo, pages lightly toned with the occasional chip, including a small marginal chip to lower front wrap and first two pages, hinges cracked. A worn, good only example, but very rare. Item #27629
