Image No. 7

Amsterdam: Provo, 1966. 4to, 7 leaves, mimeographed from typescript, drawing and collage and stapled once at the upper left hand corner.

Single issue of this rare and ephemeral Provo periodical, issued almost weekly for a short span of time in the summer of 1966, and acting as a more immediate counterpoint to the other Provo periodicals. As such, and along with the group's street posters, it belongs to the era of almost instantaneous publication occuring simultaneously with the the work of the Diggers in San Francisco, and the Motherfuckers and other Lower East Side groups, who brought the speed of publishing up to the speed of events from 66-67 - a seismic shift in underground print culture that also laid the groundwork for the posters and publications of 1968.

This issue appeared in an edition of 2000 copies, but half of them were confiscated and destroyed by authorities because of the text about the IJ tunnel.

Vertical bend, and a short nick to left margin, else very good. Item #27598

Price: $200.00
