New York: Grove Press, 1959. First edition. 8vo, 244 pp, bound in beige boards backed in brown cloth, gilt titles. One of 26 specially bound and signed copies of the first edition, signed by Kerouac on a limitation page tipped in after the title page. No dust jacket.
The rare special edition of Kerouac's best book, in a quarter cloth brown binding much more suitable to the feel of the book than the grey boards of the normal trade edition.
A very good copy, with some dulling to the gilt at spine, a touch of dustiness to the top edge of text block, an adhered remnant paper (likely from a newspaper clipping) and larger, corresponding area of offsetting to facing page, and binding slightly overopened after first blank. Item #26852
