Film Culture No. 2

New York: Film Culture, 1955. First edition. 8vo, saddle-stapled wraps.

The very scarce econd issue of the long-running publication, not just the most important film journal in America during the post-war period, but a periodical that would also incorporate related arts into it's scope, especially with those issues which were designed by artists associated with Fluxus, pop, and other avant-garde movements.

This issue features Ingrid BErgman on the cover, in Rossellini's Joan at the Stake, and an interview with Roberto Rossellini within, as well as the proceeds of a symposium on the Director and the Public, which included Elia Kazan, John Ford, Joseph Pevney, Budd Boetticher, William Wyler, Ida Lupino, Cecil B. De Mille, and George Stevens. There is also an article by Siegfried Kracauer on Opera on the Screen, and other articles by Lewis Jacobs and others.

A worn, about very good example, with rubbing and some tape remnant marks to cover, creasing and dustiness to the wraps, and two small pinholes throughout. Item #26005
