Detroit, Mecca of the Midwest / Debunking the Ford Five Day Week Little Blue Book No. 1295]

Girard, Kansas: Haldeman-Julius, 1928. 32mo, saddle-stapled in buff wraps.

One of the scarcer books in the series, and one of the more subversive publications in the series from a labor standpoint. The cover only lists the first essay, and with the presence of only that title almost makes this installment look like a pocket travel guide extolling the wonders of Motor City, whereas Meyers' essay was actually a dark assessment of the failures of Detroit. Though not listed on the cover, this installment in the series also prints T. Headen's exposé of Ford and his auto plants. The decision to omit the title from the packaging seems to suggest that the book was aimed for somewhat covert distribution, or to expose these radical texts to a larger audience.

Near fine with light toning to margins.
Near fine with faint toning and a tiny stain to back wraps. Item #25914
