Freiheit für Alle Gefangenen. Red Army Faction, Holger Meins.

Freiheit für Alle Gefangenen

np: [1970]. 15 1/2 x 22" poster, offset printed in two colors.

A striking poster featuring the petals of a central flower turning into bullets, with the names of a wide spectrum of revolutionary groups inserted in between each petal, including The Black Panthers, FNL, Weathermen, Tupamaros, F. A. R. , Yippies, M.I.R., Vietcong, El Fatah, Zengakuren, MR8, and Frelimo. The poster also appeared in a contemporary issue of the underground newspaper 883.

Though unattributed here, the poster was the work of Holger Meins, who in that same year would join the Red Army Faction [RAF], and four years later would die in prison on hunger strike.

The poster is very clearly an upending of the rhetoric of the "flower power" of the preceding decade, but also reveals the desire of the RAF to align themselves with other movements, including those of the third world.

Folded several times, a touch of toning, else a bright, near fine example. Item #25679
