It's Hard to Be A Woman [Annotated by Skeeter Davis]

New York: RCA Victor, 1970. LP in picture sleeve. Catalog no. LSP-4382.

Original pressing of the LP, the track listing on the back cover of which is annotated by Skeeter Davis in blue ink, though unsigned, but with revealing and incredible notes on the songs. She discusses at some length the song "When You Gonna Bring Our Soldiers Home", including the fact that country DJ's didn't play it, but that "It is from my heart." She also discusses her hatred of the cover, and concludes by saying "Don't you just love me writing all over my albums? It's cause I's not able to tell you what I think since I'm not there."

This copy of the LP comes from the collection of Rod McKuen, to whom it was sent by Skeeter Davis. It is difficult to imagine a better example of the record.
