New York: René Block Gallery, 1974. 4 x 6" postcard, offset printed in two colors, with red text in a Gothic font overlayed onto a solarized portrait of Beuys.
The postcard issued for Beuys' first trip to the US, which he had previously refused to visit in protest of the Vietnam War. The artist's feet never actually touched American soil, as Beuys took an ambulance downtown from the airport, wrapped in felt, and proceeded directly to his now infamous co-habitation with a wild Coyote, whose participation in the event is anticipated only by the addition of the word "Coyote" in red to the upper left hand field of the image.
