Point Reyes Station, CA: The Cypress Press, 1958. First edition. 12mo, saddle-stapled in illustrated wraps. Inscribed by the author in the year of publication.
The first and last book by this early beat writer, published shortly before his death that same year. Rubenstein had a significant, albeit largely unrecognized effect on the development of the Beat Generation, primarily due to his co-founding of the little magazine Neurotica in 1948, and by his association with the little mags Gryphon and Inferno. After his death, his widow married the science fiction writer Philip K. Dick.
Not a rare book, but this is the first example we've seen signed.
Very good with minor toning and a couple of stains to wraps, and light rubbing to the spine ends. Item #24972
