Paris: Editions de la Sirene, 1921. First edition. 12mo, unpaginated. Printed wraps.
The first edition of this work of film criticism by the filmmaker and critic best remembered today for his film The Fall of the House of Usher. While the importance of the text is widely acknowledged in the history of film criticism, the graphic design of the book by Claude Delbanne - an art deco fantasia on film themes which occasionally verges into concrete poetry - makes it one of the most visually striking film books ever published.
Very good or better with a 1/2" closed tear to paper covering the head of spine, which doesn't affect the soundness of the binding. Item #24876
