[Amsterdam]: Provo. 8 1/2 x 14", mimeographed on recto only.
Published as Provokatie No. 5, this leaflet outlined the Provo white bicycle plan, in which approximately fifty bicycles were painted white and distributed in Amsterdam in protest of capitalism and traffic congestion. This would become one of the most enduring social contributions of the movement, spawning similar plans in Portland (anybody remember those yellow bikes?) and elsewhere. The manifesto was reprinted at least once, the first version having been distributed with the second issue of Provo.
This copy is missing the final line of text, with the signature Provo Anarchistenblad and the phrase "Provokatie No. 5 - perhaps because it is a reprint, or perhaps because it is miscut. Otherwise very good with a single old fold line and creasing and toning to extremities, along with small tack holes for hanging at tips, one of which has been reinforced with clear cellotape.
