8 1/4 x 11 5/8", original xerox. Some creasing to extremities, small pinholes to tips, but very good. Flyer for this 1983 event at CVJM Dulsberg Nord - a youth center in Hamburg which was perhaps arranged by Ulli Rehberg (Whitehouse is also rumored to have played there the following year). There is no mention of whether SPK where slated to perform at the event, but it seems likely, as they often performed in conjunction with the videos and also played Hamburg elsewhere that fall.

A reprint of the landmark 1930 edition, with a new preface and notes by Godwin. 4031 copies were issued, but due to copyright issues, the edition was largely suppressed, "rendering it now very rare" according to Frank, though in our experience not as rare as he suggests; however, this is an exceedingly sharp copy, the nicest we've ever seen. 4to, 49 pp., xeroxed in b/w and stab-stapled, with a multiple stapled in. One of an unspecified, but probably very small edition. Curated by Phillips and published in conjunction with the 1990 exhibition of the same name, which mined the remarkable crossovers and similarities between commercial heavy metal and the commercial gallery art scene to great effect - draw what conclusions you will. Most eye catching is the Vik Muniz contribution, a stapled in multiple consisting of a packet of anti-aging pills and bee pollen. The pills have gotten sort of nasty now, a bit cracked and aged, like most things that were shiny in the 90's. With contributions from Mike Kelley, John Currin, Raymond Pettibon, Kathy Burckhardt, Ashley Bickerton, Jessica Diamond, Cheryl Donegan, Alex Perstein, Tom Henry III, Doris Kloster, Donna Draker, Bob Krasner, Debra Trebitz, Sean Landers, Richard Lee, Daniel Levine, Lip Service LA, Ken Lum, patti Martori, Aimee Morgana, Peter Nagy, Carl Ostendarp, Kevin Landers, Joel Otterson, Philip Pocock, Rob Pruitt, Jack Early, Alexis Rockman, Gary Simmons, Debbie Stoller, Julie Wachtel, and Chris Wilder. 16 x 24" sheet, silkscreened in two colors. One of a limited edition of only 50 copies signed & numbered by the artist, Derek Hess, and printed at the Blast Furnace Press. This is one of the first posters by the prolific artist, with the smallest limitation of any of his early posters. The great image on the poster shows a figure in a blasted landscape crucified on a large X. It was made for The 1993 exhibition at Spaces Gallery, which included Hess and David Alban, Robert C. Banks, Cushmere Bell, Rebecca Browning, Claire Coleman, Laura D'Alessandro, Dexter Davis, Charles Dunn, Kevin Everson, Patti Fields, Ray Juaire, Mark Howard, Jim Karpowitz, Anthony Mahone, Clay Parker, Wendy Rogers, Megan Sweeney, Bryn Zellers, & Norbert Ziebold. Rolled once as originall mailed; tiny nick to upper left tip and tiny crease to lower right tip, neither affecting image, else fine.

Inscribed by Jamie Reid at the title page with a small drawing: "Ours is the 21st Century Ova Towards a New Age." In addition, laid in is a crumpled piece of paper additionally signed and inscribed - "John all love and respect Jamie Reid." The piece of paper also contains Jamie's older website address and email. Some innocuous light horizontal creasing to spine else fine. A rare artists' book designed by Jamie Reid and Garry Mouat, with text by Jamie Reid -a great manifesto on the state of the visual arts on the brink of the nineties. Includes color reproductions of a wide array of Reid's work. This was apparently published in conjunction with the Celtic Surveyor exhibits in Japan and has since has dropped out of sight. In an odd and (perhaps?) purposeful twist, the isbn the book bears is the same as Dave Rimmer's book "Diana Princess of Wales Children's Hospital." OCLC locates no holdings, and this is the only copy we've handled or seen despites years of searching. We will refrain from suggesting that the "John" of the inscription is Mr. Rotten, but the book does appear to have been inscribed to somebody close to Reid.

Single issue of this excellent UK post-punk fanzine, notable for its excellent graphic design, and minimal but highly effective use of a single color (red). Issues were printed at the Printshop at Telford Community Arts. Includes a review of the Clash Film Rudeboy, a great section on advice for producing your own fanzine, poetry, much political content, and an interview with UB40, as well as a short review of the Fall and the Cramps playing Buckingham University. The original poster for this 1978 gig by rockabilly legend Ray Campi at Mabuhay Gardens, with Vancouver's D.O.A. and Blast in support. The poster reproduces a drawing of Campi "riding" his double bass. This was a very early out of town show by D.O.A. Here the chronology gets a little confusing, though. According to the interview with Joey Shithead in Gimme Something Better, this show seems to be the same famous show where he pissed into a several drinks from the stage. Shithead notes that this show, during their first trip to the Bay Area, was in 79, but the dates on the flyer seem to indicate a 1978 show, as Saturday fell on August 12 that year. Perhaps the flyer date is wrong, or perhaps Joey Shithead misremembered the date, but we believe this to be the same show.

The booklet features great satirical drawings by the cartoonist F. W. Alden, including one of a a devil bearing the legend "D-Evolution." De-evolution was a concept that Casale and Lewis had already developed as a humorous idea before meeting Mothersbaugh, but it is likely that this pamphlet served to develop the idea as a serious critique, especially following the Kent State shootings that same year, an event that has been cited by band members at various times as being an impetus for the formation of Devo.

8vo. 22 pp. Saddle-stapled wraps. Fine. Single issue of this zine out of Ann Arbor, edited by John C. Ongley. The entire issue is taken over with a Rock N Roll is dead piece written just prior to the Clinton administration, which was originally slated for publication in Randy Russell's The Sweet Ride, but which expanded into a larger project. Though published in Ann Arbor, there is some heavy Ohio content here - the author pinpoints the exact night that Rock N Roll died, which was during a show at JB's by the Numbers Band - the Numbers Band figure prominently in the essay and get a lot of props from the author, we are glad to report.
